Radović Highlights Importance of Institutional Readiness for Montenegro's Eurozone Integration
Montenegrin Central Bank Governor Irena Radović visited the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt, where she discussed the country's preparations for future membership in the European System of Central Banks.
The focus of the conversation was on the final phase of Montenegro's accession negotiations with the EU and the fulfillment of obligations from negotiation chapters 9 - Financial Services and 17 - Economic and Monetary Policy. Radović emphasized that the operational and institutional readiness of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) is crucial for successful future integration.
The CBCG presented its findings on a recently completed needs assessment project, which highlighted the need to strengthen supervisory capacities and align with Single Supervisory Mechanism practices. Radović stated that real readiness is measured by the institution's ability to consistently apply European standards in practice.
