Rand Steadies Amid Global Risk-On Sentiment

The South African rand has steadied against major currencies as risk-on sentiment improves in global markets. The US dollar index has weakened, easing demand for safe-haven assets.

Oil prices have dropped, and yellow metals are fluctuating as optimism about a Fed interest rate hike grows. Analysts point to progress toward restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz as a key factor in reducing fears of supply disruptions and keeping inflation expectations contained.

The rand is currently quoted at R16.34 per dollar, R18.87 per euro, and R21.99 per British pound. Oil prices remain under pressure, with a barrel trading at $79.02, despite optimism around the Hormuz shipping agreement.
