The Reserve Bank of Australia's Monetary Policy Board has decided to keep the cash rate at 4.35% in its August meeting, citing high inflation as a major concern.

The RBA stated that earlier interest rate increases have yet to fully take effect and that total spending is expected to slow down.

Inflation is not predicted to return to the middle of the 2-3% target range until early 2028, according to the RBA's 'In Brief: Statement on Monetary Policy, August 2026' report.
