RBA Promises Interest Rate Relief After Economic Collapse
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has reassured Australians that it will lower interest rates as soon as the economy collapses, according to RBA chief Michele Bullock. In a statement released on September 30, 2026, Bullock emphasized that the latest interest rate rise is just a temporary measure.
Australia's unemployment rate is rising, with recent data showing an increase in jobless numbers. Despite this, Bullock urged people not to be concerned about the current state of affairs, saying 'the pain is almost over.'
Bullock also stated that there is little the RBA can do about interest rates, as they are a central bank whose primary function is to adjust interest rates.
