RBA Raises Cash Rate to Highest Level in 15 Years Amid Inflation Pressures
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has raised the cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.60 per cent, marking its highest benchmark rate in 15 years.
This decision was made amidst rising inflation pressures and increasing costs due to higher global energy prices, AI-driven demand for technology goods, and domestic capacity pressures.
The RBA notes that firms are facing higher costs and are either increasing prices or considering doing so, which will intensify pressure on mortgage holders, businesses, and the housing market already losing momentum.
