RBA to Reassess Interest Rates in September Amid Inflation Concerns
Australia's central bank is set to assess whether current interest rates are enough to control inflation and bring it back down to target, according to Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Michele Bullock.
The RBA's Monetary Policy Board will meet in September to review incoming data and determine if the monetary policy tightening implemented so far has been sufficient to return inflation to its target within a reasonable timeframe.
Bullock noted that market expectations are for the central bank to reassess interest rates at this meeting, given recent economic developments. The RBA had raised interest rates aggressively through 2026 amid concerns over sticky inflation and resilient economy.
