Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has announced it will block third-party AI agents like Meta Platform Inc.’s Muse from accessing its banking systems, citing concerns over ‘unacceptable customer risk’.
The decision follows a comprehensive security review of the technology, according to a memo sent to all employees on Tuesday. RBC emphasized that the move aligns with its guidelines on the responsible use of AI.
The bank, Canada’s largest, did not provide further details on the specific risks identified but stated that the policy change was necessary after evaluating the technology’s functionality.
