RBC Continues to Anchor Canada's Banking Sector with Strong Earnings
Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY) remains at the center of Canada's banking story due to its impressive earnings and diversification. The bank reported a net income of $6.02 billion on total revenue of $18.54 billion for the quarter ended July 31, 2026.
The bank's ability to earn at scale across every division, including Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Personal Banking, Commercial Banking, and Insurance, makes it a leader in the Canadian banking sector. Its largest-ever acquisition, HSBC Bank Canada, has added scale in domestic commercial and international banking, but integration costs are still being absorbed.
RBC's diversified revenue streams make it resilient to fluctuations in any one area. Capital Markets contributed $2 billion of net income, while Wealth Management and Personal Banking each generated around $1.4 billion and $1.3 billion respectively. Commercial Banking added $0.9 billion, with Insurance contributing $197 million.
