RBC Maintains Strong Dividend Outlook Despite Economic Risks
Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) continues to support its dividend yield of 2.47%, with earnings growth and capital strength reinforcing its dividend outlook.
The bank's latest quarterly common dividend stands at CAD 1.76 per share, equivalent to CAD 7.04 annualized at the current rate. This is well within management's medium-term target range of 40% to 50% for the dividend payout ratio, which was 41% in the latest quarter.
The bank reported a net income of CAD 6.0 billion in the third quarter, with diluted EPS of CAD 4.23 and adjusted net income of CAD 6.1 billion. This provides substantial earnings coverage for distributions, leaving a significant portion of earnings available for organic growth, credit-loss absorption, share repurchases, and additional capital generation.
RBC's diversified model generates revenue from lending spreads, fees, investment management, insurance, trading, underwriting, and advisory activities. Its major operating businesses provide exposure to Canadian consumers and businesses alongside global wealth and institutional clients. The bank's liquidity coverage ratio was 125%, above the regulatory minimum, while its net stable funding ratio was 112%.
