RBC Maintains Top AI Leadership in Global Financial Services
Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has once again secured the top spot in Canada and the third position globally in the 2026 Evident AI Index, maintaining its leadership for the fifth consecutive year. The annual Index, which evaluates financial institutions across four key pillars, Talent, Innovation, Leadership, and Transparency, ranked RBC in the top 10 for all categories. Notably, the bank improved its Talent ranking by four positions to #8 and climbed to second place in Leadership.
RBC’s President and CEO, Dave McKay, highlighted the bank’s sustained investment in AI, stating that it has created a significant competitive advantage. The bank aims to derive $700 million to $1 billion in value from AI by 2027. This year, RBC established an AI Group to advance research, maintain security and regulatory compliance, and equip employees with AI tools.
Over the past year, RBC achieved several AI milestones, including offering 40% more credit limit increases to newcomers in Canada through machine learning. The bank’s AI platform, Aiden, has been adopted by all 8,000 Capital Markets employees, significantly speeding up research report generation and streamlining investment banking tasks. Additionally, more than 72,000 RBC employees are using proprietary AI tools, and the bank is actively involved in shaping AI governance standards through the Fintech Open Source Foundation (FINOS).
