RBC Puts Quantum Strategy into High Gear with Key Appointments and Partnerships
Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is advancing its quantum strategy by appointing Dr. Elizabeth Iwasawa as Director of Quantum, a newly created role. In this position, she will lead a team of researchers and developers and manage the development and buildout of RBC's quantum strategy.
RBC has also signed two multi-year partnerships with leading Canadian universities to help advance quantum growth at RBC and contribute to Canada's quantum talent pipeline. The first partnership is with the University of Waterloo's Institute for Quantum Computing, which will establish the RBC Quantum Talent Initiative to support the next generation of talent in quantum information science and quantum technologies.
The second partnership is with the University of Toronto to help advance quantum growth at RBC and contribute to Canada's quantum talent pipeline. The focus will be on PhD fellowships and conference sponsorships, among other areas.
RBC is also collaborating with Canadian photonic quantum computing company Xanadu to host a hands-on workforce training program where the team will learn quantum application development using Xanadu's open source frameworks.
