RBC Stock Holds Support as Tokenized Deposit Project Advances
The Royal Bank of Canada (RY) has been making moves to modernize its payment systems. Alongside other major banks, RY is collaborating on a project to develop a tokenized Canadian dollar deposit system. This initiative aims to enable faster interbank settlements while keeping customer funds within regulated institutions.
As part of this effort, the bank has issued $1.1 billion in Additional Tier 1 Limited Recourse Capital Notes (LRCNs), Series 9, which bolsters its capital base and enhances overall financial resilience.
The RY stock price currently sits at C$285.90, with mixed technical indicators pointing to a consolidation between C$282.09 and C$289.71 over the next sessions. Analysts note that the bank's shares are exhibiting positive near-term momentum but caution that heightened volatility may be on the horizon.
