Rice-Filled Bottles with US Dollars Found in South Korean Tidal Flats

Police in Incheon are investigating the discovery of plastic bottles filled with rice and US dollars found in the tidal flats of Yeongjongdo.

The incident occurred on September 27, when anglers reported finding the bottles beneath the Muui Grand Bridge.

Coast Guard personnel retrieved about ten 1.5-liter plastic bottles containing rice and one or two U.S. $1 dollar bills each.

Preliminary investigations suggest that this may be a repeat of previous attempts to float plastic bottles northward from Incheon's border regions near North Korea.

A police official stated, 'The exact location where the plastic bottles were scattered has not yet been confirmed.'
