Ringgit Holds Steady Amid Geopolitical Uncertainties
The ringgit opened mostly higher against major currencies on Monday but slipped slightly against the US dollar due to geopolitical uncertainties, which boosted demand for the greenback.
According to Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam, traders will be monitoring US labour market data for further indications of the economy's direction.
The ringgit appreciated against the euro and British pound but weakened versus the Japanese yen. Against ASEAN currencies, it strengthened versus the Singapore dollar and edged up against the Thai baht.
