Ripple Introduces RLUSD: A Regulated Stablecoin Pegged to the US Dollar
Ripple Labs has launched RLUSD, a regulated stablecoin pegged one-to-one to the U.S. dollar.
The fiat-backed stablecoin is designed for enterprise and institutional use cases within Ripple's broader payments ecosystem.
RLUSD is fully backed by a reserve of low-risk, dollar-denominated assets held in segregated accounts, which must be subject to monthly attestations by an independent Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the U.S.
The stablecoin is natively issued on XRP Ledger and Ethereum, with bridged versions also existing on other blockchains such as OP Mainnet and Base.
