Ripple's XRP Gets Boost from ECB's Digital Euro Rail Launch
The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched Pontes, a digital euro rail that allows EU banks to settle transactions using blockchain-style technology. This development is significant for Ripple and XRP holders as it exposes their technology to a massive market with €233.8 trillion in annual non-cash payments.
Pontes doesn't run on XRP directly but is connected through a private network built by Axology, which uses open-source XRP Ledger code. This setup allows tokenized assets to be settled against real central bank euros through Pontes.
Existing Ripple banking partners like Société Générale and DZ Bank are also involved in this space, giving XRP Ledger technology multiple points of contact with Europe's new digital banking system.
Crypto analyst Dom Kwok has reiterated his long-standing $1,000 XRP price target, sparking renewed attention to the possibility. However, it's essential to note that neither Ripple nor the ECB has tied Pontes to any specific XRP price outcome.
