Royal Bank of Canada Launches Risky SpaceX-Linked Financial Product
Royal Bank of Canada is launching a new financial product tied to the performance of Space Exploration Technologies Corp.'s Class A common stock. The offering, known as Geared Buffer Digital Notes, is set to raise $4.7 million, with proceeds going to RBC after underwriting discounts and commissions. The notes come with a fixed return of 21.30% if the stock's final value meets or exceeds a buffer level set at 75% of its initial value. However, investors face significant risks, including potential principal losses if the stock falls below this buffer, with a downside multiplier of approximately 1.33333.
The notes, due October 20, 2027, will not be listed on any securities exchange and are subject to RBC's credit risk. The offering, underwritten by RBC Capital Markets and JPMorgan Chase Bank, requires a minimum investment of $10,000, with denominations of $1,000. The initial estimated value of the notes is $991.26 per $1,000 principal amount, slightly below the public offering price.
The product's structure includes a trade date of October 2, 2026, an issue date of October 7, 2026, and a valuation date of October 15, 2027. Investors are cautioned about the risks involved, as detailed in the pricing supplement and accompanying prospectus. The notes are not insured or guaranteed by any governmental agency and are not subject to bail-in provisions.
