Rupee Continues Downward Trend Against Major Currencies
The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) continued its downward trend against major currencies on August 10, 2026. According to the State Bank of Pakistan's Mark-to-Market Currency Rates, the U.S. Dollar closed at 277.7019 in the ready market, a slight decrease from its previous rate of 277.7228 six days ago.
The Canadian Dollar (CAD) surged to 199.2766, its strongest weekly gain this past week and best August price since mid-July. The British Pound (GBP) settled at 374.9670, reaching its highest closing in three weeks after outperforming other major currencies.
The forward curve indicates a slow and steady depreciation of the rupee against the dollar, with experts anticipating a 58 paisa slide in one month and a 5.2% rate depreciation over the next year.
