Rupee Falters Against Dollar Amid Ongoing Demand and RBI Intervention
The Indian rupee traded in a narrow range against the U.S. dollar in early trade on Thursday, October 1, 2026, falling by 3 paise to 95.97.
The downward pressure was attributed to sustained foreign portfolio outflows and firm U.S. yields, which kept the USD/INR pair under pressure.
Anil Kumar Bhansali, head of treasury and executive director at Finrex Treasury Advisors LLP, stated that aggressive foreign exchange intervention by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had prevented spot rates from breaking past the 96.00 threshold.
