Rupee Gains on Crude Price Dip, NSE IPO Buoys Investor Confidence
The Indian rupee began Friday stronger at ₹95.71 against the US dollar compared to Thursday's close of ₹95.93, marking a gain of 22 paise in early trade.
This upswing is attributed to the recent easing of crude oil prices and expectations of foreign portfolio inflows linked to the $2.3-billion National Stock Exchange (NSE) IPO.
The Brent crude price has declined by 0.7% at $104.1 a barrel, extending losses into a third session, which generally benefits the rupee as India imports a significant portion of its crude oil requirements.
Lower crude prices can reduce the country's import bill and ease pressure on the current account, subsequently decreasing demand for dollars.
