Rupee Slides as Brent Crude Surges Past $107 Amid US-Iran Tensions
The Indian Rupee opened at 95.88 against the US Dollar on September 28, down 7 paise from the previous session.
This comes as Brent crude prices rose again over the weekend after US President Donald Trump rejected a peace plan from Iran, which has led to an eighth month of conflict.
Oil prices were trading more than 1% higher at $107 per barrel on Monday, with the 10-year US Treasury yield also hitting its highest in about two decades at above 5.2%.
Analysts say that the RBI may intervene to support the currency, and investors will be watching key US economic data due this week, including the September non-farm payrolls report and personal consumption expenditure inflation data for August.
