The Indian rupee has declined to 95.84 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, weighed down by a stronger American currency and elevated crude oil prices.
According to market participants, the domestic currency remains under pressure due to firm dollar demand and volatility in global markets.
Rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia have contributed to uncertainty over energy prices and global financial markets.
The dollar index is trading 0.06 per cent higher at 100.87, while Brent crude futures are down 0.97 per cent at USD 102.08 per barrel.
