Rupee Strengthens as RBI Intervention Increases Downside Risks for GBP/INR
The GBP/INR currency pair is experiencing a bearish trend due to the Reserve Bank of India's intervention in both offshore and onshore markets. The central bank has been actively supporting the rupee with record high foreign-exchange reserves, which has increased demand for the rupee and insulated it from recent global pressures.
The current price of GBP/INR is ₹128.329, with a modest movement registered for the day. However, the pair remains positioned below its short- and medium-term moving averages, indicating strong oversold and bearish conditions.
Technical indicators such as MACD, ADX, RSI, Stoch RSI, and CCI all point to strongly oversold conditions. The Ichimoku Kijun at ₹128.763 sets immediate resistance for the current session.
The analysis suggests that GBP/INR is expected to consolidate within the ₹127.51 to ₹128.792 range over the next two to three trading days, with a low probability of an upward move and a high chance of a downward move.
