Rupee Tumbles to 96.01 as Dollar Index Hits One-Month High

The Indian rupee opened lower against the US dollar on September 17, down 6 paise from the previous close of 95.95 at 96.01.

The move comes after the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates and signaled further tightening, which strengthened the US dollar index to 100.35.

Finrex expects the RBI to remain active in the market, although the rupee could face near-term pressure amid a stronger dollar and weakness in Asian currencies, particularly the Korean won.
