Rupiah Rallies as US-Iran Talks Gain Momentum, BI Holds Interest Rate
The Indonesian rupiah strengthened against the US dollar on September 23rd, closing at Rp 17,818 per dollar after a 0.37% gain.
This rally was fueled by positive developments in US-Iran relations and Bank Indonesia's decision to hold interest rates steady.
US President Donald Trump announced that American officials had held a productive three-hour meeting with Iranian representatives in New York, raising hopes for progress in negotiations.
Ibrahim Assuaibi, director of Traze Andalan Futures, attributed the rupiah's gain to these developments and Bank Indonesia's decision to maintain its benchmark interest rate at 5.75%.
