S&P/TSX Composite Index Soars Nearly 100 Points Amid Consumer Cyclical Gains
The S&P/TSX composite index rose nearly 100 points on Friday, driven by gains in consumer cyclical stocks. The index closed at 35,800.89.
In New York, major indices also moved higher, with the Dow Jones industrial average up 478.64 points to 51,828.62 and the S&P 500 index up 39.28 points to 7,743.41. The Nasdaq composite was up 129.34 points at 27,068.72.
The Canadian dollar traded for 70.70 cents US compared with 70.74 cents US on Thursday.
