Santander Boosts Control of Fintech Ebury Amid International Payments Growth
Santander has strengthened its control over Ebury, a British fintech specializing in international payments and currency exchange. The Spanish bank acquired a majority stake of 55% after investing €57 million euros through a joint control with Centerbridge.
The European Commission unconditionally authorized the operation on August 18, determining that it does not pose competition problems in the European market due to Ebury's limited market position.
Ebury has raised nearly €634 million in funding rounds since April, aimed at accelerating its growth and expanding its international presence. The fintech operates in 30 regulated markets and serves over 27,000 companies worldwide.
