Schnabel Leaves ECB for IMF Role Amid Central Bank Transition
Isabel Schnabel, a key figure at the European Central Bank (ECB), has announced her departure to take on a new role at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She will leave her position as a member of the Executive Committee and Governing Council of the ECB in January 2027. Schnabel will become the head of the Monetary Markets and Capital Department at the IMF, as well as serve as a financial advisor to the organization.
According to Christine Lagarde, president of the ECB, Schnabel has played a crucial role in stabilizing inflation within the eurozone's target range of 2%. Her departure is part of a significant transition facing the ECB, with other key officials set to leave their positions in the coming years.
