Schnabel to Depart ECB Early for Senior IMF Post

Isabel Schnabel, European Central Bank (ECB) board member and head of market operations, is set to leave her position early. She will take on a senior role at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), specifically as director of its Monetary and Capital Markets Department.

The IMF was keen to find a new director for this department by the end of 2022, which accelerated Schnabel's departure from the ECB. Her original term at the bank was set to last until December 31, 2027.

The announcement of her resignation is expected imminently, possibly later on Thursday.
