Singapore Airlines Edges Out Cathay Pacific in Premium Economy Showdown
Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific are two of Asia's premier flag carriers. Both airlines offer premium economy seating options, but Singapore Airlines typically provides a larger checked baggage allowance than Cathay Pacific. Additionally, Singapore Airlines operates the A380 on select routes, while Cathay Pacific does not.
The Skytrax rankings list Singapore Airlines as the second-best airline in the world, with Cathay Pacific ranking third. In the premium economy category, Singapore Airlines comes in fourth place, behind Virgin Atlantic and Japan Airlines, but ahead of Cathay Pacific, which ranks sixth. The two airlines' premium economy seats are similar, but Singapore Airlines offers a more generous baggage allowance.
Singapore Airlines' premium economy class passengers can check in up to 154 pounds (70kg) of luggage on flights outside the US and Canada, while Cathay Pacific's limit is 100 pounds (45kg). Both airlines offer priority boarding, spacious seats, and exclusive amenities. However, Singapore Airlines provides a more extensive menu for its premium economy passengers.
