SNB Agrees to Maximum Annual Distributions of Up to CHF 6 Billion Through 2030
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has signed an agreement with the Federal Department of Finance (FDF) for its profit distributions from 2026 to 2030. The maximum annual distribution is set at CHF 6 billion, which includes a base amount of CHF 2 billion and four supplementary distributions of up to CHF 1 billion each.
The agreement replaces the previous one signed in 2021 and applies from the 2026 financial year. It aims to smooth out distribution flows over the medium term by setting profit thresholds for additional distributions. The SNB will lower its minimum allocation to provisions from 10% to 8% as of 2026, subject to annual approval.
The agreement follows the SNB's reported net profit of CHF 26,348.4 million in 2025 and a distribution reserve of CHF 22,346.9 million at the end of that year.
