SNB Posts Profit of CHF25.2 Billion in First Half of Year
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) reported a profit of CHF25.2 billion in the first half of the year, primarily due to its foreign currency holdings.
The bank's foreign currency positions generated a profit of CHF31.7 billion, mainly from gains on equity securities and instruments totaling CHF22.9 billion.
Interest income totaled CHF6.7 billion, while dividend income was CHF1.7 billion, and foreign exchange gains amounted to CHF2.5 billion.
The SNB faced a loss of CHF1.7 billion on interest-bearing securities and instruments, as well as interest expenses of CHF0.4 billion.
