SNB Purchases 1.4 Billion Francs in Foreign Currency in Q2
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) intervened in the foreign exchange market again in the second quarter, purchasing foreign currency worth 1.437 billion Swiss francs from April to June.
This is according to statistics on foreign exchange transactions published by the SNB, which announce their interventions for a given quarter at the end of the following quarter.
The central bank's intervention in the second quarter was lower than in the previous quarter, but still significant, particularly after U.S. President Donald Trump's 'Liberation Day' at the beginning of the period.
Over the course of 2025 as a whole, the SNB purchased nearly 5.3 billion Swiss francs worth of foreign currency, with a notable increase in intervention during the first quarter of 2026, where they purchased 3.94 billion Swiss francs from January to March.
