SNP Warns Labour Budget Will Bring 'Brutal' Cuts and Tax Rises
The UK is bracing for what could be another 'brutal budget', according to SNP's Dave Doogan, who claims Labour ministers are softening up people for cuts and tax rises.
This warning comes as Prime Minister Andy Burnham acknowledged that next month's Budget will indeed be challenging.
With inflation reaching a five-month high of 3.1% in August, mainly due to high petrol and diesel costs, the Bank of England is warning that volatile global energy costs could push inflation even higher.
The Bank's governor, Andrew Bailey, stated that if this volatility continues, it is 'more likely' that interest rates will need to rise to help bring inflation back down to its 2% target.
