Spain Urges ECB Succession Talks Amid Lagarde's Uncertain Future
Spain's Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo believes it's time to discuss the future of the European Central Bank (ECB) in case President Christine Lagarde decides to step down early. Speaking on Bloomberg Television, he emphasized that any decision regarding her mandate is up to her and that his government will support her regardless.
However, Cuerpo stressed the importance of initiating discussions about the ECB's succession plan, citing vacant spots at the institution. He pointed out that it's not just about the presidency but also other key positions that need to be filled.
