Spanish Inflation Soars to 4.3% Amid Energy Price Hikes

Spain's inflation rate rose sharply in August to 4.3% from 3.6% in July, driven mainly by higher energy prices linked to the Middle East conflict.

The National Statistics Institute (INE) reported that fuel and lubricant prices for personal vehicles contributed to the increase after falling in August 2025.

Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices also fell at a slower rate in August than during the same month last year.

Spain's inflation rate is now more than twice the European Central Bank's 2% target, which could add pressure on policymakers to raise interest rates.
