Standard Chartered Expects ECB Rate Hike in December
Standard Chartered has joined the growing list of financial institutions expecting an interest rate hike from the European Central Bank (ECB) in December. The bank's forecast comes as investors continue to monitor the ECB's monetary policy moves, which have had a significant impact on global markets.
In a recent update, Standard Chartered stated that it now expects the ECB to raise its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points at its upcoming meeting. This decision would aim to curb inflation and stabilize the eurozone economy.
The bank's revised forecast is in line with other major financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, which have also predicted a rate hike from the ECB. However, not all analysts share this view, with some arguing that the ECB may choose to maintain its current monetary policy stance due to economic uncertainty.
