Strained Relations Push Japan Out of Favor with Chinese Travelers
Japan has fallen out of favor as a destination for Chinese travelers due to strained relations between the two countries.
Last year, Japan topped the list of international destinations for Chinese tourists during their National Day holidays, but this year it no longer makes the top 10, according to travel agency Tuniu. Indonesia, Turkey, and South Korea have taken its place as the most popular choices.
Meanwhile, a Bank of Japan policymaker has emphasized the need to accelerate interest rate hikes if inflation quickens in the country. The official made this statement at a recent policy meeting where the bank raised its benchmark rate to 1.25%, its highest level in 31 years.
