Suzuki Slams Carney's Climate Record: 'Driving Canada into the Ditch'

Environmental icon David Suzuki is expressing disappointment and frustration with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's approach to climate change. Suzuki, 90, has been a vocal advocate for addressing the issue, but he feels that Carney's actions are driving Canada 'into a ditch'.

In an interview with The Canadian Press, Suzuki said that he initially celebrated when Carney was elected last year, thinking that he understood the challenges of climate change. However, Suzuki now believes that Carney is prioritizing economic interests over environmental concerns.

Suzuki pointed to Carney's decision to cancel the consumer carbon tax and repeal a mandate to phase out gas-powered cars in favor of electric models. He also criticized Carney for pushing policies that benefit the economy at the expense of the environment, including backing an oil pipeline to the West Coast.

'I don't see that there's going to be any deviation from the driving of our country into the ditch,' Suzuki said.
