Swiss Inflation Surges to Two-Year High in August
Inflation in Switzerland rose to its highest level in two years, reaching 0.8 percent in August, according to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). This is a significant increase from July's 0.4 percent and higher than economists had forecasted, ranging between 0.5 to 0.6 percent.
The last time inflation was this high was in August 2024. Despite the recent surge, it remains within the price stability range of 0 to 2 percent considered by the Swiss National Bank (SNB).
Core inflation, excluding energy, fuel, and fresh and seasonal products, also rose slightly from 0.3 percent to 0.4 percent year-over-year compared to July's figure.
