Switzerland's Trade Surplus Jumps 72% on Booming Exports
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has reported that Switzerland's trade surplus nearly doubled to 23.7 billion Swiss francs ($28.86 billion) in the second quarter of 2026, driven by a significant rise in goods trade exports.
This increase from 13.8 billion francs in Q2 2025 is largely attributed to a growth in export-oriented economy, which was previously affected by higher tariffs imposed by the United States.
The balance of payments widened due to higher exports, resulting in an overall current account surplus that is the widest since the first quarter of 2025.
