Switzerland's Trade Surplus Rises to $28.86 Billion
Switzerland's trade surplus has nearly doubled in the second quarter of 2026, according to the latest figures from the Swiss National Bank. The country's trade surplus grew to 23.7 billion Swiss francs ($28.86 billion) during this period, a significant increase from the 13.8 billion francs recorded in the same period last year.
The growth was driven primarily by increased goods trade, with Switzerland recording a goods trading surplus of nearly 30 billion francs during the quarter. In contrast, the country posted a deficit of 4.4 billion francs for services.
The current account surplus marked the widest level since the first quarter of 2025, reflecting the recovery of Switzerland's export-focused economy. The country's exports rose by 5.5% in the second quarter, leading the government to upgrade its forecast for economic growth this year last week.
