Taiwan Dollar Rebounds Sharply from NT$32 Breach

The Taiwan dollar had a dramatic day on August 19th, briefly breaching NT$32 against the U.S. dollar before rebounding sharply.

It touched a low of NT$32.004 but quickly recovered as the U.S. dollar index pulled back and major Asian currencies strengthened in tandem.

The Taiwan dollar surged to an intraday high of NT$31.872, a swing of more than 10 fen, before settling at NT$31.888 at midday, up 5.7 fen.
