Takaichi and Trump Discuss Economic Security Cooperation in New York

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and US President Donald Trump met in New York to discuss cooperation on economic security. The two leaders are attending the United Nations General Assembly, where they will focus on strengthening bilateral ties.

Takaichi noted that Japan has been the largest investor in the US for seven consecutive years. She emphasized the importance of their economic-security partnership, highlighting areas such as AI, semiconductors, and critical minerals.

The two leaders also discussed the International Criminal Court, with Takaichi stating that she had a frank discussion with Trump on the matter. The USD/JPY pair saw a slight increase following the meeting, rising 0.11% to 157.55.
