Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has proposed using extra revenue from the Bank of Japan’s (BOJ) faster sales of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to support key economic security sectors. Speaking in parliament on Friday, Takaichi framed the additional gains as a result of Japan’s economic growth and suggested reinvesting them into crisis management and growth initiatives.
The prime minister emphasized that these funds could help create a virtuous cycle of economic expansion. The BOJ has been accelerating its ETF sales, and Takaichi believes the proceeds should be directed toward strengthening areas critical to national economic security.
