Te Pae Christchurch Wins Oceania Conference Centre Title for Second Year
Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre has been named Oceania's Leading Meetings and Conference Centre for the second consecutive year at the 2026 World Travel Awards. The venue won the category at the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony in the Maldives on September 27.
The awards are decided through voting by travel professionals, media, and consumers around the world. According to Te Pae Christchurch General Manager Ross Steele, this recognition reflects not only the dedication of their team but also the strength of the wider visitor economy.
Since opening in May 2022, Te Pae has hosted over 980 events attended by more than 447,000 visitors from around the world. The venue aims to connect international visitors with local businesses, researchers, industry leaders, and communities, highlighting the importance of its role in New Zealand's tourism sector.
Te Pae Christchurch has also received other international recognition, including being named among the Top 50 Convention Centres Worldwide in TTW 2026. The venue is committed to sustainability, having reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent since opening and holding Net Carbon Zero certification through Toitū Envirocare.
