Tech Demand Lifts Asia Markets as Oil Prices Ease Amid Increased Supply
Asian share markets rose on Monday as AI's insatiable demand for data lifted chipmakers, and oil prices eased due to increased supply coming out of the Gulf. The dollar remained flat at 157.00 yen with investors cautious ahead of a potential Bank of Japan intervention.
The Nikkei index in Taiwan gained 1% to a three-month high, while South Korea's tech-heavy index added 1.4%. MSCI's broadest Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.9%, and Chinese blue chips gained 0.2%.
OPEC exports have recovered to just over 4 million barrels per day after slumping in August due to the ongoing conflict, data from analytics firm Kpler showed.
