Texas Sits at Heart of $872 Billion US-Mexico Trade Relationship
The Dallas Federal Reserve Bank's senior vice president and economist Roberto A. Coronado highlighted the importance of the U.S.-Mexico economic integration during a recent conference.
Coronado emphasized that Texas is at the forefront of this relationship, with over 64% of total U.S.-Mexico border trade passing through the state.
He noted that Mexico has been the top trading partner for the U.S. since 2023 and that goods trade between the two countries reached $872 billion last year, a six-fold increase from the beginning of NAFTA.
The composition of this trade has also changed, with opportunities in advanced manufacturing benefiting both sides of the border.
