Thailand's PM Visits NZ for Strategic Partnership Talks
New Zealand and Thailand are strengthening their diplomatic ties as Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visits New Zealand this week. The visit marks 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with a focus on boosting trade and business connections.
The New Zealand-Thailand Strategic Partnership aims to triple two-way trade by 2045, according to Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. Currently, trade between the two nations reached almost NZ$4.8 billion in the year to March 2026, with NZ$1.6 billion of that coming from New Zealand exports.
Thailand is ASEAN's third-largest economy and one of New Zealand's top 10 trading partners. The visit will also focus on regional stability and combatting transnational serious and organised crime.
