Tokyo Core Inflation Hits 10-Month High at 2.7%
Tokyo's core inflation accelerated to 2.7% in September, exceeding the Bank of Japan's target and marking its fastest pace in ten months.
The core consumer price index for Tokyo, which excludes fresh food but includes fuel costs, surpassed a median market expectation of 2.4%, according to Reuters.
Masato Koike, a senior economist at Sompo Institute Plus, expects core inflation to continue accelerating due to higher energy costs linked to the Middle East conflict and its resulting second-round effects.
